Sonoma Plaza is always a great place to take a leisurely stroll, taste some cheese, sip some wine, immerse yourself in California history and enjoy the shops and restaurants.
If you can’t find street parking, that’s ok! Park in General Vallejo’s backyard (seriously, free parking back there) then walk through the historic park and stop in to the Sonoma Cheese Factory for some free cheese sampling. Don’t forget to buy some too! While walking around the plaza check out the various wine tasting venues and restaurants. All we have tried have been great! There’s usually some sort of celebration going on in the plaza. The Sebastiani Theatre has music events and vintage movies. There’s even the Ledson hotel on the plaza if you get too tired from all the delicious food and wine!
Don’t forget to walk around the old Mission San Francisco Solano for some more history and the City Hall Building in the center of the plaza. This is steeped in California history, there is a monument where the Bear Flag Revolt took place.
