The Winery Ruin
The main Kohler and Frohling winery building was heavily damaged in the 1906 earthquake. London used the foundation and part of the upper story that could be salvaged and built an upper story wooden building which was used as a carriage house, living quarters for ranch hands, rooms for his many guests and an office where his sister, Eliza Shepard, could run the ranch. A fire destroyed the upper stories in 1965.
Today the Ruin is home to Broadway Under the Stars with summer theatre and concerts. Over 800 guests can enjoy shows, private events and social gatherings in the beautiful setting looking out over vineyards, the ranch, and Sonoma Mountain in the Valley of the Moon.
